Use: I used it for my XM radio in my Honda Civic, stuck right above the center consol. It also came with a small disc, with adhesive on one side, which adheres to the window.
Cons: Because of the length of the arm the XM radio thrashes around you drive. You can then suction to the other side of the disc.
Overall I'm pleased with the product, but would probably go with something different if I had it to do over again. The suction cup is strong and connects securely to the windshield.
Shipping: Pedestal shipped promptly and arrived safely.
Pros: It was simple and quick to install.
Before the radio sat in a cubby hole in the dash. But now it hangs up and we are able to view it from driver side or passenger side.
I also ordered the remote for the radio, so we are set. I have hung it high and adjusted it so it is not obstructing the driver.
I ordered this pedestal for my XM radio. This could be hazardous while driving.
Of note: it was a little difficult to twist into the position I wanted, but with a little time and patience it should work. I love it.
If we wanted to see who was singing or change the station we pulled it out of its little space.
great holder for my xm radio, can get a little bouncy, but absolutely better than the vent clips provided by xm
A best buy for sure. And I don't have to worry about the unit falling off while I am driving down a bumpy road or a crappy Southern California freeway. The Arkon pedestal works very well because it is sturdy, well built and it makes using my XM radio a lot more easier than with the vent clips all of the XM units come with. At first I thought that 14 inches might be a little long, but I have grown used to the fact that it makes the display very easy to see and the buttons on the unit a lot easier to use.
The pedestal is long enough that you can mount it down low to use the dash for support even on cars with very deep dashboards. This long pedestal seems to work for me because this can use the dashboard for support so it is not just hanging in space and putting stress on the plastic part from bumps and the normal movements of the car. I was having some trouble with vent mount holders for my gps setup using my cell phone as the gps. The plastic part on the holder that slides onto the pda mount that holds the phone had sheered off twice, so I was looking for another way.
